Dating A Rival Fan

Is it worth it?

Dating A Rival Fan

Whether it's politics or a sports team, dating the enemy is a real thing.

How do you purposely get along with someone who butts heads with you on these levels? Well, I guess it depends on how die-heart someone really is.

My mom will tell strangers that she tried to raise me right, but I love my New York teams. Yankees, Giants or Rangers, I don't know what it is, but I can't help it. Now I'm dating this Eagles fan and I couldn't believe I let this torture happen to me...

But, the reality is, even through the E-A-G-L-E-S and him telling me that the Eagles are going to win every Sunday, I love this man. Maybe, for some people, it could get annoying or start fights, but I know that he is just teasing. I know that the Eagles don't have any better shot than my Giants. Some weeks we just compromise by rooting against the Redskins and Cowboys together.

I know that I couldn't handle dating anyone who is too conservative because it goes against what I believe in. I value what I do and trying to be with someone who values the opposite would be difficult. Not impossible, but not for me. I know friends who deal with it by not discussing politics, and it works for them.

I guess what I'm saying is, love who you love and decide what you can handle. Everybody is different, so it just depends.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
