Dating In The Holy City

Having a great time with someone you fancy in a tourist city does not have to break the bank.

The dating game has changed a good bit over the years. It has gone from the gentlemen picking the ladies up at her house to a text for Chipotle. Living in paradise it is easy to get lost in all the adventures this city has to offer. Finding the romance is easy, but keeping the spark alive can be the challenge. Whether you are in town visiting or live here year round keeping up with the cost of living here can be a nightmare, so here are 20 cheap dates ideas in and around the Holy City.

1. Cheer on the Riverdogs. During the summer tickets are around $5 and they have Thirsty Thursday where beer is only $1.

2. Folly Beach offers movie nights in the summer. They usually run every Wednesday night and are free to the public. Get there early to get a seat because this usually draws a large crowd.

3. Bowling at the Alley right off of King Street is always assured to be a fun night. Part restaurant, part bowling alley, all fun.

4. The Bicycle Shoppe offers an affordable and healthy way to tour the city at your own pace on a bike. They have a few locations so it is accessible even if you are off the peninsula.

5. Go to Waterfront park and the Battery and watch the sun set.

6. Over in Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, there is a company that offers paddleboard for rent by the hour. They also include kayaks and canoes and a lot of great discounts. Paddleboard rentals are only $10 per hour. Kayak Charleston.


7. When it rains in Charleston, it floods so why not pull out a game of Monopoly and play the game through until someone wins. This is last for hours and will test you and your partner through stressful situations dealing with money. So you better not land on one of their properties or else!

8. Every Saturday morning beginning in April there is a Farmers Market in Marion Square. It runs through the end of November. It opens at 8am and closes down around 2 p.m. Check out the Farmer's Market website.

9. Go to the beach. With so many surrounding the peninsula, it will always make for a great time. Each beach as significant restaurants and shops that have been there for many years. A nice walk on the beach always makes for a peaceful pass time.

10. There are so many theatrical events in Charleston. The Charleston Visitor's Center shows you to all the different theaters and events they will have in the upcoming year.

11. There are so many places to have a nice picnic. Grab your favorite food to go and eat outside with the beautiful scenery Charleston has to offer.

12. Have a low country dinner at home. There is always a sale in the Harris Teeter on seafood so head there to pick up some yummy fish and crab cakes.

13. Volunteer at the Pet Helpers together and playwith animals. Pet Helpers is always in need for some extra hands to walk and play with the animals.

14. River float on the Edisto River. It is a bit of a drive but well worth the time spent at the state park. This can be enjoyed by large groups of friends too. South Carolina Parks This link will lead you to the location on where some of the best river floating occurs.

15. Go for a walk. The busy hustle of everyday life can really get to us, so it is important to stop and smell the roses while we can. Downtown has so many hidden gems around each corner one might not see otherwise.

16. Watch the stars. There are so many locations in charleston this can be done. The park down the street, your backyard, or even the beach make for a great spot to show off your mad science skills about stars from middle school.

17. Build a fort. No one is too old for forts.Leave it up for as little or as long as you want. The best ones include a place to sleep in.

18. Grab coffee or a beer at the place that requires people to reconnect. Kudu on Vanderhorst Street offers the best coffee and craft beer without wifi like chain stores do so the people in the restaurant will put their devices down and reconnect with the ones in front of them. 19. Go on a ghost hunt.Charleston Ghost Hunt offers ghost tours for $19 per person.

20. Go on a carriage ride whether it is with a group or just the two of you, it is assured that the old fashion way of getting around town will awaken the history along the way.

The Holy City might be costly for most day to day activities, but having a great time with someone you fancy doesn't have to break the bank.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
