Back in high school, dating was simple (in my opinion). While there was social media, it wasn't as big of a deal as it is now, I had never heard of people just "hooking up" or being friends with "benefits" and tinder was not a thing. We went to high school football games or held hands in the hallway and stole a kiss by the lockers when a teacher had their head turned. Talking was not a big thing, sure we took a couple weeks to get to know each other...but we knew exactly what the situation was.
Now-a-days, forget about having an actual "relationship" with someone. No one wants a label, but they don't want you to see other people. We never know if we are "talking", dating, seeing other people or if it's okay to talk to others. If reading that was confusing, imagine being involved in that whirlwind. It is nearly impossible to get past that "talking stage" anymore.
We need to get past the "talking stage" and either wife that person up, or start being straight up with the person and telling them if the relationship is going anywhere or if you just see it as a hook-up. We get called crazy or clingy by people but it's really just us being confused about what is going on, confused as to why you get mad at us when we start being interested in someone else but when we text you its hard to get a response. No one is ready to commit to one person but they will hop in bed any chance that they get.
That's why dating at my age is screwed.
