Thirsty Thursdays, Dollar Drink Mondays -- these were some of the best memories of my life. These nights were the best, and I will never forget them. But casually meeting a guy at the bar and trying to have a conversation over the blaring music while he is buying you a dollar drink simply gets old. Trying to play games with little boys as if they are going to text back also gets very old. This is why I cannot wait to see what life will have in store for me after college.
After graduating I can’t wait to meet someone to talk to and not feel as though I’m competing for his attention with every other girl in the bar. I can’t wait to meet someone with career goals instead of goals to black out. I can’t wait to be able to go to nicer bars and not depend on getting to the bar before the dollar liquor drinks run out.
It will be so nice to be able to make plans to go out to dinner and not feel obligated to run out downtown afterwards. It will be great to date men who know what they want, and men who don’t play childish games in order to make sure they have someone to text when they are bored or need something. It will be fun to go on real dates and do fun things like watch movies and go ice skating.
I can’t wait to find someone after college who might be my husband one day. It will be amazing to meet someone who wants to start a life with me and someone who I will be able to count on. I think it will be awesome to be able to go home after work and have someone ask me how my day was. It will be great to have someone to have a dog with and maybe even a family. I think it will be amazing to be able to trust someone and love someone.
College was most definitely the best four years of my life. But I think everyone gets to their point and realizes they are too old to be doing the same silly things that they did when they were 18 years old and living in the dorms. Once you hit that point, you become so excited to graduate and move on to the next chapter of your life. Most boys are pretty silly in college and tend to mature a few years after, especially once they get a job. It will be really great to meet those guys.
Thirsty Thursdays and dollar drinks, you have been good to me. I thank you for the memories, but I am now ready to meet not a boy, but a man.
