The old fashioned way of dating was creating human interaction with each other. Being able to go up to someone and talk to them. Ask them how their day was or if they are free later on tonight. People used to be able to ask each other on a date in-person.
1. People used to come up to the door to pick someone.
That doesn't happen much now a days, we text someone "here" and just wait for them to reply "okay, coming." Then, they walk out their door and just hop in your car. There is no meeting the parents or holding the car door open for someone.
2. Flowers were brought to the first date.
Flowers were a sign of interest and seriousness. Now, your lucky if someone holds the door open for you.
3. Dancing on dates meant passionately.
Either slow-dance, salsa or something clam. Not dancing club style "grinding".
4. Dating means there is no one else.
For example, they used to call it a date, now its "hanging out" or "talking." Things are never clear in this day and age. No one is every clear about what they truly want. "Talking" means they could be talking to you or ten other people.
5. Being on a date mean't human interaction.
People sit on their phones well with someone. How do you learn about each other? How do you learn from each other? So, turn off the electronics or set them aside.
6. It was all about the goodnight kiss.
People now "expect" you to have sex on the first date and that's just not fair. You should learn from each other first. Know the difference between sleeping with someone you don't know compared to someone you love.
7. Asking someone on a date in-person
We are all caught up messaging people through the different apps we all have. It's about how they look in their pictures they post. But, sorry to break it to you, pictures are deceiving these days. There are many different apps people have to edit their pictures.
In the recent years, we have lost all of this. We lost the interest, passion and seriousness that we have for dating. We lost what it really means to be with someone. Challenge yourself to your next date being "OFFLINE."
