We all know the struggle. The semester is over and you are back home in your warm bed. Those dorm bunks, cafeteria food, and overbooked study rooms are already a thing of the past as you look forward to your mom's Christmas dinner and your grandma's famous cookies.

But what happens when you realize your s/o isn't there with you? Or maybe you are together, but you are so tired from the semester's activities that all you have done for a week is doze off and on to Lacey Chabert's latest stint on Hallmark?

It is time to get off the couch and reignite the spark! Here are 10 great date ideas, and whether or not you are with your s/o right now, you can find something that works for you.

1. Have a snowball fight

It snowed in Texas this year, so just about every American will have experienced a snowball fight this winter! If it isn't snowing where you are, change it to a pillow fight. Still playful, still fun, still competitive.

2. Drive through your neighborhood to look at Christmas lights

Check out this guy who had Star Wars themed dubstep music for his light show!

3. Holiday shop together

We are in college, so it's possible that through all the hustle of finals we put off gift shopping a little. Go to the mall and make a day of it with some soft pretzels or a hot chocolate. If you don't have the money to shop like this, get creative and DIY your gifts. The people you love will appreciate the time and thoughtfulness either way.

4. Plan a scavenger hunt for your s/o

Send him or her out on an errand while you set up a romantic Christmas themed hunt. The prize, in the end, is you, with some flowers or dinner cooked and a nice holiday movie to watch by the fire. Make sure the notes along the way are just as sweet and thoughtful as you are!

5. Bake Christmas cookies

Get grandma's recipe or create your own, tie that apron, and get to baking. Pft, Betty Crocker who?

6. Attend a holiday party

...or throw one! This is a great way to get dressed up and celebrate the ones you love you. Never arrive empty-handed, and remember, you can never be overdressed or over-educated. Now is the time to talk up how your s/o is doing in school or work. Your guy or gal will feel so special, and you two will be a hit.

7. Do a winter photoshoot

The smart thing to do if you throw the party from #6 would be to set up a photo booth so people can take pictures already dressed up! But, if not, do it on your own time and make a night of it! Winter pictures are so timeless and precious. Even if they aren't for a Christmas card, having a nice picture of you and the one you love framed is a kind reminder that you get to wake up in a world where the person you love loves you right back.

8. Have a craft night

Craft nights are a lot simpler than they sound. Pinterest the craft you'd like to do, head over to Hobby Lobby or Michael's and do the dang thing. Make one another a frame for those pictures you took at the photo shoot, or paint an ornament with your anniversary date on it.

9. Cook a romantic dinner at home

Crack open a bottle of sparkling cider and just enjoy one another's company.

10. Skype or FaceTime

Any of these ideas can be modified in some form or fashion if you can't be with your s/o this holiday.

Really, it doesn't matter what you do. Just hug your loved ones and make sure to remind them what this season is all about.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
