Date Or Dump: Knowing If The First Date Is Worth A Second
DateDaily

Finding the love of your life might not be as easy as it seems. We listen to songs about love and swipe through Tinder, anticipating a date, and when we finally find someone who looks inviting, we take a chance.

The date you go on might be a nice dinner or maybe a round of mini golf with ice cream, but how do you know if the date is going well?

There are some common signs to watch for to see if your first date is worth a second.

Raised Eyebrows.

If your date is raising their eyebrows during conversation, it’s a good indication they are interested in what you are saying. Raised eyebrows allow your date to clearly see your eyes, which can also be a sign of attraction.

Synchronizing.

Have you ever been on a date and noticed your date copying you? Whether it is picking up a glass or maybe eating at the same time, this action shows that your date is interested in you and your actions. Most of the time, this action goes unnoticed, but if you do notice it, don’t get freaked out. It is a subconscious action making you feel comfortable.

Raised Shoulders.

Raised shoulders during a date can be a mixed signal. It can show that your date is lifting the weight from their arms and showing their submissiveness, but it also can show a sense of tension. Stay aware of the other signs to tell if this sign is a good one or a bad one.

Stretched-out Arms.

This action is a common tool for woman to show that they are submissive and inviting. Stretching out her arms to connect to her knees shows that she is reaching out to get closer and making herself look smaller. This action shows that she wants the man to make a move.

Feet Positioning.

Playing footsy is a real thing, as silly as it sounds! Our feet are the farthest body part away from our brains, so we tend to not notice what the brain is telling our feet to do. If someone is interested in you, they will start pointing their feet in your direction. So drop your fork on purpose on your next date and take a peek; if their feet are aimed at the door, it’s not worth the second date.

Personal Space and Body Positioning.

We all like our personal space, but too much personal space on a date can show that your date is not interested. However, if you get a booth table at a restaurant, please do not be the couple that sits on the same bench.

Inviting A Hug With Palms Up.

The night is almost over and you know that a hug is in the near future. If your date goes in for the hug with their palms up, that shows honesty, openness, and a non-threatening approach.

Goodnight Kiss.

Now, this is the biggest sign that the date ended well. Statistically, 89 percent of men prefer women to make the move for a goodnight kiss, so go at it, ladies! But if a man goes in for the kiss, and it is soft and gentle, it shows that they are sensitive and caring.

A first date is always nerve-wracking, especially if it's with someone you met online, but also remember that the first date is meant for learning more about the person. Most of these actions are done with the subconscious mind, so don’t be discouraged if your date doesn’t follow through with these actions, they may just be nervous. Don’t force these actions either, your body and brain know if you are truly interested in your date.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
