Star Wars fans were treated to the newest trailer for "Rogue One." The newest trailer adds to the saga showing promising entertainment. Not to mention, Darth Vader returns to the big screen!
Guess who's back?
Let's face it, when this spin off film was announced by Disney, everyone speculated the return of a certain Sith Lord. Based on the events of "Rogue One," it's appropriate that Darth Vader would return in this timeline. Following the success of "Episode VII: The Force Awakens," the prequel will offer something different as it's the first of a series of spin off movies. Others include a Han Solo (recently addressed to be a trilogy) film, a Yoda story, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, a Zack Snyder movie about Jedi Knights that is supposed to be a Star Wars version of "Seven Samurai." So pretty much any character and property of Star Wars is fair game at this point. True fans aren't complaining. It's been a decade without new Star Wars, so the launch of a cinematic universe is well deserved (even without George Lucas' involvement).
...Back again...
"Rogue One" is directed by Gareth Edwards. Edwards wowed audiences with the return of the king of monsters, "Godzilla" in 2014. Edwards ranked amongst Hollywood's best and most promising directors, making him an obvious choice for Disney to select to helm one of the Star Wars saga's films. Seeing what's in store for fans in "Rogue One," it's apparent Edwards was an excellent choice and, if the film is well-received by critics and fans, Edwards should return to the directing chair for a future installment.
...Darth Vader's back...
To set up the events of "Rogue One," the film follows Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) ad she leads a team to infiltrate and extract plans for the Death Star. The plot may sound familiar, and it should; it's stated back in the original 1977 film. What a concept -- take that crucial detail and expand it into a full-length feature film. Along the way, we're introduced to Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Saw Gerrara (Forest Whitaker — yes, the same Gerrara from "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" series), Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen), and Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn). This movie is stacked with talent. Alan Tudyk looks like he'll steal the show with his quick wit as a security droid, K-2SO, that's been reprogrammed to aid the mission. And then there's Darth Vader!
...Tell a friend!
The one and only Vader returns in a quick cameo but it's all that's needed to sell this movie. On top of jaw-dropping sequences between the Rebels and Empire, there's Darth Vader. This movie could have a circle of kids watching a kid beat on a pineapple and as long as Darth Vader shows up, I'm going to watch it.
We want Vader, Kylo's chop liver!
The point is that "Rogue One" looks promising. And even if people are on the fence about "The Force Awakens," hopefully this film will meet their expectations and entertain.
