Darkansas Bluezorbacks

It's a struggle to be a Razorback and Blue Devils fan.

Since 2006, I've been a die hard Duke fan. I can't tell you how I got there, but somehow I did, and I've never gone back. From Greg Paulus, to Jon Scheyer, to Grayson Allen, I've loved watching Duke play. But now that I'm attending a college that is not Duke University, it's a struggle to be a Razorback and a Blue Devils fan. Here are some of the things I face:

1. Getting excited when I see someone else wearing Duke apparel

Surprisingly, since I've gotten to college, I've seen more people wearing Duke gear than ever before. And when I do see these people, they instantly become my best friends.

2. Being forced to hide my love

When I was packing up my belongings to bring to college, my mom tried to hide all of my Duke gear so that I could not bring it to Arkansas. No worries though, it was found and I am now able to wear my Duke apparel with pride.

3. Meeting someone who likes UNC

Whenever I meet someone who likes North Carolina, I just can't help but think "who has hurt you? Who has made you into this person?" Not to mention, the worst is when a UNC fan becomes your friend. Or is your mom.

4. The games are hard to find on TV in Fayetteville

It's not always easy to find the Duke games down here. Basketball is a lot easier to find than football or any other sport, but still can be a struggle at times.

5. When my actual college plays Duke

Since we are in different conferences (ACC and SEC), this is very rare. But when it does happen, it's one of the hardest decisions I am forced to face. No matter who I choose, betrayal will be in place.

As you can tell, being a divided fan is not easy. Please pray for me as I continue on this taxing journey. Oh, and go Blue Devils. 2017 National Champs, I'm calling it.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
