Thomas rolls his eyes at the comment his brother just made. “Can we go home yet?”
“Thomas! We just got here.” Derek says quickly.
“I was just joking, calm down bro.”
The bell that signals that someone walked through the door chimes, and Anna shouts, “Welcome to Japps, sit anywhere you like.”
Darcie, Kimberly and Sara walk through the door and Sara shouts, tugging on her mom’s arm, “I wanna sit by the window.”
“Go pick one out, silly girl.We are right behind you.” She picks the one right by the door, a few booths away from the one Derek and his family are sitting at. Darcie and Derek are sitting with their backs to each other.”
Anna brings Derek, Thomas and Candice their food, when she notices Darcie, “Hey, what are you doing here on your day off?”
“I didn’t feel like cooking, why, are you tired of me already?” I joke.
Anna comes to their table and takes their orders. Darcie ordered her usual BLT with fries, child’s chicken finger platter for Sarah and a cheeseburger with fries for Kimberly.
“Are you sure I am not intruding on you?”
“Darcie, for the last time, I would not have offered if I did not want to. You are fine.Stop worrying.”
Easy for you to say. “Okay, I promise I will drop it.”
Anna brings them their food and they dive in.
Derek gets up to go to the counter, located by the door, to pay their bill.
Something about him looks familiar. “Hey, Kimberly, have you noticed him around here before?”
“No, why?”
“He looks familiar.”
“How can he look familiar, you have only been here for less than a week?”
“I don’t know, but he does.” Why does he look familiar? This is going to bug me.
Derek finishes paying for the bill, turns around and walks towards the booth where his mom and brother are, and notices that Darcie is staring at him. He stops and stares back. His mom and brother see he is done paying and gets up to meet him at the door. “Derek, you ready to see the waterfalls?” Candice asks him.
“Oh, yeah, I am coming,” Derek says.
Derek! No, it can’t be.He has to be a different Derek.
“Darcie, Jude made changes to the schedule, he has you on the opening shift.”
“That’s fine,” I reply to Anna, still in a shock, I might be looking at my twin brother. I turn to Derek and ask, “Can that really be you?”
