Dressed for the club in a tight black skirt and flaunting my waist with a midriff black and white patterned shirt, a few of my roommates and I took a Lyft and headed into the big and new city of Orlando Florida determined to have a fun night out!

Once we got past security and stepped in through the door we exchanged looks of where and how the heck did we ever end up here?!! It was as if we fell into the movie Footloose (Herbert Ross 1984.) We crossed the bridge and we were now able to dance… country line dance that is!Cowboys we would be going to a country bar. I figured that it would be playing country tunes but I never expected their to be line dancing.

I was absolutely excited! I, although a terrible dancer was ready to learn how to kick up my cowgirl boots with toe touches and spins. However, I haven’t (YET!) picked up the dances.

These dances are not like the cupid shuffle with a D.J. calling out the moves. Heck each song had its own moves and there was no announcement for which moves or pattern to use. I was amazed that people knew the steps to a dance that wasn’t even called out! No wonder poor Willard from Footloose (Herbert Ross 1984) couldn’t dance!

We did end up having a good time although we mostly stayed away from the dance floor. I got the group to try once and we were one big hot mess, but it was still a great time.

One of the best parts of being in a new city is the opportunity to go to new places and try new things! I can officially say now that I’ve tried to country line dance. I can’t wait to see what other great big adventures this city of Orlando will bring!
