13 Best Dance Routines From Dance Moms

A few weeks ago, I wrote an article specifically about Maddie Ziegler from Dance Moms. This week, I want to talk about my favorite group dances from Dance Moms. So far, the show has been on for 6 seasons. Over the course of 6 Seasons, there have been 198 episodes. This includes special reunion episodes and a few specials. I want to tell you about my favorite group dances, because I want to give credit where it is due. All of the girls are beautiful dancers and they all need to be recognized. I will be counting down my top 13 favorite dances with some Honorable Mentions. I will begin with number 13!

13. Lift You Up (Season 4, Episode 12)

This episode featured an older girl named Peyton and her mother Leslie. The girls performed this number as a tribute to the Broadway musical Kinky Boots. The dance featured Maddie, Nia, Kendall, Chloe, Mackenzie, and Peyton as the lead. The girls were dressed as Drag Queens. This dance won 1st overall.

12. Glam (Season 2, Episode 14)

On this episode, Abby portrayed the girls as zombies, because she thought they were sluggish and slow when they danced sometimes. She had the girls pose like their heads were busts on a pillar. This dance featured Brooke, Paige, Maddie, Chloe, and Nia. The dance placed 1st overall.

11. Broken Dolls (Season 4, Episode 22)

Abby portrayed the girls as dolls. They did a ballet group dance. Abby thought they were broken dolls, because they hadn't won a competition in weeks after usually winning every single week. Chloe, Maddie, Kendall, Mackenzie, Nia, and Sarah Hunt (guest) were all apart of this dance. This dance placed 1st overall.

10. Stomp the Yard (Season 5, Episode 2)

This dance was the second group dance on Season 5 of Dance Moms. Chloe left the team at the end of Season 4. Abby asked Kalani (a contestant on one of Abby's spin-off shows) to join the team. This dance featured Maddie, Mackenzie, Nia, Kendall, and Kalani. The dance won first overall.

9. Boss Ladies (Season 6, Episode 18)

This was a hip hop group dance for once from the ALDC. This was Maddie and Mackenzie's last episode on the show. They left to pursue other things with their careers. This dance featured Maddie, Mackenzie, Kendall, Kalani, Nia, Jojo, and Brynn. This dance won 1st overall at the competition they went to.

8. Twilight (Season 2, Episode 20)

This group dance featured a boy. In this group dance, the boy was a vampire and the girls were in love with him. He put them in a trance and everyone was trying to talk them out of loving him, but they fell for it. This group dance only featured Maddie, Chloe, Brooke, and Nick (guest male dancer). Abby did the dance smaller, because she thought Nick's part was getting lost. This placed first overall at the competition.

7. Rosa Parks (Season 3, Episode 20)

This was group dance about the civil rights activist, Rosa Parks. Most people know who Rosa Parks is. Abby decided to do a piece to move people. In this dance, Nia was the featured dancer who played Rosa Parks. The dance also included Maddie, Chloe, Kendall, Brooke, and Paige. There is a part in the dance where Nia falls to her knees and Maddie walks over her back. This is the part that really moves you in some sort of way. (Video is the reunion show. Weird lighting)

6. Electricity (Season 1, Episode 2)

A lot of controversy surrounded this dance. The girls were very young and people thought they were being very provocative. I thought they were being provocative as well, but the dance was amazing! I love this dance, because it was very upbeat and it set the stage for the way the show was going to be from that point on. The dance featured Maddie, Chloe, Brooke, Paige, and Nia. The group dance did not place.

5. Tribal Council (Season 4, Episode 26)

This group dance was very similar to what the girls do regularly, but they used a prop. The prop was a large drum that was placed on the stage. The girls even got up and danced on the prop. Nia was the featured dancer. The group included Maddie, Mackenzie, Chloe, and Kendall. The dance placed 1st overall.

4. Bad Girls (Season 3, Episode 22)

This dance was a jazz group dance. The girls don't normally do jazz group dances. There are a lot of jazz solos, but never really jazz groups. It was dynamic and extremely clean. It was hard hitting and very cute to say the least. The dance featured Maddie, Chloe, Nia, and Kendall. Abby decided not to use Mackenzie, Brooke, or Paige in the number. The dance placed first overall beating the Candy Apples all-boy team!

3. Trapped (Season 2, Episode 11 and 23)

This group dance made Maddie look like a homeless child. She lived in a box and the girls befriended her and made her look happy and not homeless anymore. This dance placed 3rd at the competition. It had Maddie as the homeless girl, Brooke, Chloe, Paige, and Nia. The girls performed this at their year end recital and Abby was mad at Maddie, so she switched the featured role and gave it to Chloe. The dance at the recital featured Chloe as the homeless child, Brooke, Maddie, Nia, and Kendall (because Paige was injured). (Video starring Maddie as homeless child)

2. Private Eyes (Season 2, Episode 7)

This dance was very dynamic. It was another jazz group dance. The girls danced with plastic guns and acted like they were spies. The dance featured Maddie, Chloe, Kendall, Nia, Brooke, and Paige. The dance did not win 1st place overall, but it did place first in the Jazz category of the competition.

1. The Last Text (Season 2, Episode 26)

This dance was very scary. It really made you think twice about texting and driving. The girls were in a car and they were all texting, while one girl was driving. They took pictures, talked, and suddenly there was a crash. Mackenzie was ejected from the car and the girls die throughout the dance, except Maddie who tried to save her friends. This group dance featured Maddie, Paige (as the driver), Mackenzie, Chloe, Nia, Brooke, and Kendall.

Honorable Mention:

At Last, Gone Too Soon, Open Waters, Witches of East Canton, Bittersweet Charity, Yum Yum, Don't Fence Me In, Just Another Number, Where Have All the Children Gone, Alouette, Dance Bop

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

Happy Birthday Cake

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
