I have had long hair pretty much my entire life. I guess you could say I have hair anxiety when it comes to getting it cut. My biggest fear is probably cutting it too much and regretting it after (then crying every day until it grows back). Each trip to the hair salon usually ends with a little trim that is hardly even noticeable to the human eye, but to me it’s a big deal. The riskiest thing I’ve done with my hair was probably the hot pink highlights I had when I was in the 5th grade. You might love your long hair, but you can’t deny these struggles. Here are the many #longhairprobs.

1. Waking up with bed head... it's never cute.

2. Having to brush the massive knots out after a long night’s sleep. So painful.

3. Okay, there goes a clump of my hair.

4. The hour it takes to wash it.

5. Going back in the shower because you didn’t get all of the shampoo out.

6. Brushing it again.

7. Bye, bye clump of hair.

8. Blow drying it for 30 minutes.

9. Still wet… oh well it’ll air dry.

10. Any sort of styling takes forever.

11. Straightening it... 1 hour.

12. Curling it… 2 hours.

13. Giving up and braiding it… 5 minutes.

14. Losing all hope and doing a messy bun… 5 seconds.

15. Bobby pins get lost in your hair far too easily.

16. You only find them in the middle of showering.

17. Hairspray is an all or nothing type deal.

18. Your hair is literally everywhere. This is the worst.

19. Even when you sweep it up it’s still there.

20. Hair over in the corner of your room.

21. Hair on your bed and pillows.

22. Hair on the living room floor.

23. Hair even in your food (believe me, I’m 99% sure it’s yours).

24. This is pretty much how long haired people mark their territory.

25. But friends tend to get mad when they pull a long stand of your hair off of them.

26. Cuddling is truly the ultimate struggle. Most people don't like it when your hair gets in their mouth and suffocates them.

27. You’ve contemplated cutting it but never had the guts to actually go through with it.

28. But I guess getting long layers counts right?

29. Convincing yourself that long hair is beneficial because it will keep you warm. Clearly it's a necessity.

30. Realizing that you can’t put your hood up because your locks can’t be contained.

31. The terrible knots you get after a night out with tight curls and lots of hairspray.

32. The terrible pain from brushing it out.

33. And the tears. Lots and lots of tears.

34. KNOTS KNOTS KNOTS

35. Messy buns are usually so big they make you look crazy.

36. Driving with the windows down is NEVER OKAY.

37. Especially when you have lipgloss on.

38. Admitting that no matter how much maintenance is needed to make it look presentable, you have a deep, loving relationship with your hair.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
