Meet Trevor Noah: The Daily Show's New Host

A few weeks ago, I wrote about Jon Stewart leaving The Daily Show after nearly 20 seasons. Now, a fresh face has risen in the news lately and his name is Trevor Noah. Trevor Noah has been named the new Daily Show host and will be attempting to live up to Stewart's legendary 20-year reign. In 2014, Noah was named a contributor for The Daily Show and has appeared on, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", and “The Late Show with David Letterman". If that's not impressive, he was the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on either of those shows. He knows his way around the late night media scene and even hosted his own, “Tonight with Trevor Noah", based out of South Africa. He tours all over the world and is the most successful comedian in all of Africa, according to his website. Not only has he been a talk show host, but he is a natural comedian as well. He's been on The Daily Show with Stewart a few times and is good friends with him. Even though he is practically unknown to American viewers, Noah has proved to be a witty satirical political analyst in South Africa. Everyone working at The Daily Show is excited to welcome him to the team. The Daily Show tweeted, “Very excited to welcome our next host: @Trevornoah! That's right – another guy in late night from Soweto." From a recent poll stated by MSNBC, supposedly, 12% of adult relay on The Daily Show as their primary news source. Will Noah be able to take on this major role? Will he be able to fill Stewart's shoes? A lot of people are questioning whether or not The Daily Show will ever be the same, or if Noah will change its direction altogether.

Just a few days after being named the new host however, a few of his past tweets were dug up and people attacked calling him Anti-Sematic and sexist. Comedy Central is standing by Noah and saying that he is in no way an Anti-Sematic or sexist person. Comedy Central stated, "Like many comedians, Trevor Noah pushes boundaries; he is provocative and spares no one, himself included. To judge him or his comedy based on a handful of jokes is unfair. Trevor is a talented comedian with a bright future at Comedy Central." Obviously, most comedians poke fun at all different races, genders, religions, etc., however, hopefully he can remain tasteful and un-bias while taking on this new role. This was a rocky start for Noah, and we will see how he rises above this. Stewart was always tastefully liberal on all frontiers. Even though he was a comedian and poked fun at different groups of people, he always made fun of himself and kept his jokes strictly political. Hopefully, Noah will understand how important of a role he is taking on and knows he will be in the entertainment media eye, and therefor should keep his opinions clean and humorous. He needs to clean up his social media act before trying to take on the most important job at The Daily Show. Stewart was beloved by millions of liberals; he captivated them every week without taking cheap shots. He was not only always informed, but perfected the art of satire. We will just have to wait and see how Trevor Noah steps up and takes on his biggest step ever.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
