Being a commuter has its pros and cons.College life is full of challenges, whether you drive to class or not. Class itself is a big enough challenge. But it is important to note the hurdles that commuters must face each day when they make the choice to get out of bed and drive to class. For us, the day starts far before that first class begins. Then, after class, commuters face dilemmas that those with a dorm would not even think of. This all accumulates into stress and frustration that occurs daily for a commuter. A commuter's day is a process. Regardless of when your class is or how far from campus you live, the process is pretty much the same. So, commuters, use this list as a reminder that each day, you succeed. Basically, this is a universal list of daily struggles that commuters know far too well.

1. Waking Up Early

We have to wake up, get ready, and drive to campus. An 8 a.m. class does not mean waking up at 7:45 a.m.

2. Pressure To Look Nice

If you commute, you don’t get to just say “I literally just got out of bed.”

3. Traffic

You finally leave your house, and now you get to sit in traffic.

4. Parking

You did it! You’re finally on campus, just in time for your class. But wait! There are no parking spots...as always.

5.Gaps Between Classes

No napping your dorm in between classes for a commuter. Instead, you head to the library, watch Netflix, and hope time goes by quickly. Or, you take a nap in your car while other commuters wait anxiously for you to leave your parking spot.

6. Making Friends

Commuters go to class and go home. Making friends is not easy.

But, It’s all worth it when you finally get home and go to sleep in your own bed.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
