I'll Always Be A Daddy's Little Girl

From a baby to adulthood, nothing changes

I'll Always Be A Daddy's Little Girl
Samantha Lee Dietl

I've been truly blessed with an amazing father. He is more than a father, he is my support system, my shoulder to cry on, and most importantly; my best friend. My dad has been someone who has never let me down, someone who has always been a constant in my life. I'm beyond thankful to have someone like him as my father.

Whenever I see him after an extended period of time (i.e. being at college for a month and a half without going home), I run to him like a five-year-old does when she gets out of kindergarten.

One thing I love about my dad is that he is my personal cheerleader. He never lets me feel down, or get upset about a bad grade, or a bad day. Even though half the time he makes fun of me for being overdramatic, or emotional, he always knows how to make me feel better.

And let me tell you, my dad's bear hugs are the best.

No matter how many times I mess up, or even make the same mistakes.. My dad is always by my side helping me back up. And yes, he doesn't stop helping me back onto my feet and telling me "everything will be okay."

Some mom's are the chefs of the family, but not for mine. My dad should own his own restaurant with how good of food he makes daily. It might be one of the (many) reasons I love to go and be home. I honestly hope thats a trait that I acquired from my dad.

Besides my dad being a shoulder to cry on, he is always someone who understands me, and my weirdness. I always have someone to laugh at my stupid jokes and someone to make even better ones immediately after. My dad has never seized to fail to make me laugh, even when I'm in the worsts of moods, and I'm so beyond thankful for that. Even when I am off at college, I know I can shoot my dad a text, and I'll immediately get a call, FaceTime, or picture from my dad that'll put me in a better mood... Unless he tries to give me advice.

I know my dad knows what is best for me, and he constantly pushes me to be the best person I can possibly be. I've been able to learn my potential through him and his constant cheerleading. It astonishes me that even after I have made mistakes, and disappointed someone, they will still love me unconditionally, and always be my best friend.

I am very thankful for the father I have. My dad is my best friend, and my role model. And even though I don't always listen to him or his advice, I truly don't know what I would do without him, or where I would be in life.

I am a daddy's little girl, and I have no problem saying it.

Forever thankful for all that my dad does - I couldn't imagine life without him.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
