Confessions From A Daddy's Girl
Abbie Folk

Daddy's girls are seen to be spoiled and, well, close to their fathers. I would know this because I am a Daddy's girl. Ever since I was a little girl, I would go to McDonald's with my dad or go Christmas shopping for my mom with him. Because I am a Daddy's Girl, I have high expectations for relationships. My daddy has always treated me like "his little princess". I think this is where my obsession with fairy tales comes from. A father is the first man a girl will ever love. The man I want to end up with is the man who my father is. Surprise sunflowers or new The Walking Dead episodes every Sunday.

Confession #1: My Dad has always surprised me.

When I was growing up, my dad traveled a lot because of his job. He would always bring me the latest toy home and I would play with them forever. Whether it be Teen Titans or Princess Jasmine's castle. It was always a surprise. When I was younger, toys were all the rage, but now I have realized that my father has become this positive example in my life and that is the best surprise of them all.

Confession #2: My Dad has taught me a lot of lessons.

Work hard and have fun later. A motto I live by because my father has taught me to work hard and never give up. I have always been a diligent and hard-working student. I have never been to a college party because I prefer quiet nights at home or a small gathering with a some of my closest friends. I have big dreams and high expectations. My dad has these too, but his dreams have already came true.

Confession #3: Laugh it OFF.

I laugh all the time. Even if I do not get the joke, I still laugh. It's funny to not get the joke that is being told. My dad is a jokester at a heart. He jokes around all the time; I guess you can call him Chandler Bing. My dad always finds away to laugh at anything. I have learned this too because I laugh at all things. It is better to laugh then to hold grudges. Laughing is the best medicine.

Confession #4: I am an overachiever.

Considering that my dad has to work hard his entire life, inspires me. Working hard is a key aspect in my everyday life. People will always ask, "Why do you turn in assignments earlier"? or they will say, "You have already started something! It's not due for weeks"! I love college and I love to learn. There is something magical about learning that excites me, just call me Rory Gilmore.

Confession #5: I love my Dad!

I am happy that God gave me the father that I have. My dad has set an positive example for my brothers and I. My dad was always there to watch The Walking Dead with me (my friends do not watch scary shows) or the times when he would surprise me with sunflowers. I have learned that my dad has set an example for me to follow. I only hope I can marry a man who loves me as much as my Daddy does!

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
