I am who I am today because of you.

A Thank You To My Daddy This Father’s Day
Jennifer Newcombe

My whole life I have been a total Daddy’s girl. Throughout the 20 years I’ve lived, my dad has shown me the world through tall eyes on top of his shoulders, giving me the strength and confidence I have today.

I may ask for money a little too often and I may not say thank you enough, so here’s to you, big daddy. Thanks to you (and Mom) for putting up with me and teaching me what it is to be truly loved in this life. I appreciate everything you’ve given me. Well, almost everything; it kind of sucks that I got your sweat glands. Even so, you’ve been the best father a girl could ask for, and I literally wouldn’t be here without you.

Thank you for being the most generous person I know.

Your kindness and willingness to help others is a trait I have admired my entire life. Every day I strive to live a giving life as you have taught me. I am so amazingly lucky to have grown up witnessing all of your generosity through the years.

Thank you for treating my mother like a queen.

The love and respect you show her every single day is something I wish all young girls grew up seeing. You taught me how to expect to be treated without even trying. You lead by example and consequently, my standards may be set a little too high. Seeing you set actual relationship goals for my life and my future husband gives me the strength and knowledge to not settle for anything less than I deserve.

Thank you for teaching me to laugh at myself.

If you can’t laugh at yourself, then no one can, and that’s just no fun. Some days we may drop an entire rack out of the refrigerator, but if you clean it up and laugh it off there’s no harm done. It's always okay to be goofy, and a little teasing from family never hurts anyone.

Thank you for accepting my mistakes.

Everyone messes up sometimes and makes stupid mistakes, but you taught me that it’s what you do next that really matters. I know to always own up to my wrongdoings. My stubbornness makes it hard at times, but hey I guess that's thanks to you too.

Thank you for being a friend to my friends.

I don't know if I've ever said it out loud, but I so appreciate the love and compassion you show my friends. You have always been so welcoming towards each one of them, making them a part of our family.

Thank you for giving me an overprotective brother.

I won't lie, feeling like you have two fathers in your life can be annoying at times, but knowing I have two 6'4" men to back me up at all times is better than having a body guard. I feel sorry for any boy I bring home.

There aren't enough words in the world to express my gratitude towards you for the lessons and traits you've given me. I am so undeniably blessed to have you in my life. I love you and wish I could be there for Father's Day, but know I'll be thinking of you. Happy Daddy's Day!

The Perks of Being a Girl

“I just want you to know that you’re very special… and the only reason I’m telling you is that I don’t know if anyone else ever has.”

As frustrating and annoying as it can be, being a girl is really awesome. We are beautiful inside and out. Not a lot of people may see that, but girls have a ton of amazing qualities.

We have unique flirting skills.

Us girls have a significant way to flirt with other people. Even when we say the most random or awkward things, we have a way of making everything sound cute and planned. It’s just a gift; we’re good like that.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:

If you are like me, you have an interesting personality. Basically, you love to be sassy and snarky, gossip, and act like a total bitch (not really), but deep down, you are actually a very genuinely nice person. The idea of actually hurting someone truly makes you feel bad, and you probably have never actually hurt someone’s feelings because your kindness always shines through, even if you do not want it to. Not sure exactly what I would call this type of personality, but if you identify with it, here are some feelings you can undoubtedly relate to.
