Dad, Thanks For Introducing Me To Some Pretty Cool "Head-Banging" Music

Growing up you showed me all types of rock music, from Weezer, Led Zeppelin, Evanecesce, to The Cult. I always thought you were the coolest guy ever, with all your guitars and drums. I remember when I was younger following you downstairs just to listen to you play and watch you have fun. I admired you so much in those moments.

My favorite story you share is when I was a toddler and you would play Love Removal Machine by The Cult. You would yell "go crazy, go crazy!' You said I would run around the living room headbanging to the song. We went from having our own little concerts at home to being front row at one of their shows years later. That show was a blast and we even walked out of the venue with guitar picks and drum sticks from the band!

Thank you for bringing me to my first rock concert, Kiss (and painting my face to look like Gene Simmons). I can't help but laugh every time I see those photos, I'm sure you get a good kick out of them too. Thank you for introducing me to my favorite artist, Brian Fallon. You brought me to concert, after concert of his. The pure joy I felt having you by my side listening to my favorite music was priceless. You took the time to go to all the shows I wanted to see. Whether it was in town or a distance away, you always seemed to make it happen.

Thank you for always sending me new music you think I'd like, it brightens my day more than you'll ever know. If it wasn't for you I probably would have never heard of these amazing artists and bands. You've shown me that not just rock music but any genre of music can be an outlet in my life or anybody's life. You've taught me that music is good for the soul, and it heals. It brings connections between people. Music makes my heart feel full, it brings a smile to my face and tears to my eyes at the same time.

Thank you for bringing a whole new meaning to music for me, But most of all I want to thank you for making music and shows "our thing". I have the greatest memories with you involving music and you don't know how much I cherish those memories.

Keep on Rockin'!!

Love ya, Em

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
