Sorry, Guys, But My Dad Set The Bar High

There will come a time when you enter a relationship, or perhaps you are currently in one, either way, something will strike you as odd.

Maybe he doesn’t wait until you’re home to go to sleep or maybe he doesn’t always make sure you’re walking on the side of the sidewalk that is furthest from the street.

No. Those small details are reserved for fathers only.

You might not even recognize all of the small things that your father does. And that’s how we created such a norm that has set our dating standards so high.

So here are my questions to the guy out there:

Will you take me out for ice cream when you know I’m upset?

Will you drive me anywhere I ask no matter how late it is?

Will you go to the food store at eight in the morning just because I want waffles for breakfast?

Will you know what I want before I do?

Will you do everything in your power to make me happy?

While there will be great guys out there, the greatest one has been by your side your whole life.

You’re lucky enough to call him Dad.

Dad.

The one man who sprinted to pick you up when you fell down.

The one man who told you you looked beautiful even with braces.

The one man who saw you cry countless times and was always there to hold you.

The one man who stood by you through your crankiness when “it was that time of the month.”

The one man who will love you forever.

You may take for granted the things that your dad does for you but just know he will never stop. Even if you have someone else in your life, he will never stop taking care of you.

And that is something to be thankful for.

Just because you may be devoted to a guy, your first guy will never truly let you go. He will never stop checking in on you if you're sick or making sure you have exactly what you need.

He will always be your dad.

Sorry, guys, but daddy will forever be number one because he knows he will always be our's too.

You can try to catch up, but good luck. My dad has set a high standard for you. I can only hope you’ll take care of me half as good as he has.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
