When you give A girl a Dad

My dad has been my best friend my entire life, and I don't know what I would do without him. He is my biggest inspiration, fan, and disciplinarian.

My dad has taught me to always be myself, and that if I live through the Lord, then I can do no wrong. He has lead me to Christ, and helped me through times when I may not have been doing the right thing.

I can always count on my dad to be there when I need him, and have never doubted him.

I tell him literally everything; as soon as something in my life happens, he is the first person I call and talk to, because he is always so happy for me, but has no problem with keeping me humble. Anytime I question him, he will ask me "Have I ever lied to you," and I honestly answer no. He knows exactly what I need to hear, when I need to hear it.

My favorite time to hang out with him, is if we are washing cars, watching Alabama football, or barbecuing on the grill. Well, he does all of those things, and I just support. He never fails to make me laugh, especially when he makes notorious "dad jokes."

My dad and I are twins, so any time I am thinking about something, or am feeling down, he doesn't even have to ask what is wrong, he automatically makes me feel better. One time, he didn't know I was homesick at college, and called me while I was on my way to my dorm from a charity event. All he said was "Be outside of your dorm room in 10 minutes, I'm in Troy and want to take you to dinner." I cried the entire way to my dorm, and cried even harder when he got there. He was there for me when I didn't even call out for him, and that is the biggest reason why I love him.

For the girls who don't have a stable father in their life, I am so sorry. I'm sorry you aren't able to have the best friend anyone can ask for, and I'm sorry that the best part of your life isn't present. Also, just because your father isn't there for you, it doesn't mean that all fathers are terrible, because mine is the absolute best.

Dad, I know you're reading this, and I just want you to know that I love you with my entire heart. You are the reason that I get up in the morning and work my hardest, because I want you to be proud of me. I want you to know that everything you have done for me, and taught me, is paying off, and that I value those things. I love you dad, so much.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
