Customer service; two words that tend to make people roll their eyes immediately. There are companies out there that are known for having an excellent customer service department, such as Amazon. And there are some that simply lack in that area, such as United Airlines.

Nevertheless, customer service has become easier in ways you’d never imagine.

Social Media

This is where social media is considered a powerful tool. Platforms such as Twitter are becoming home to a section of many companies customer support departments. For instance, Snapchat and Verizon allow their users to tweet them for immediate help. So get out your smartphone and type away, well up to 140 characters that is.

Conversational commerce also plays a huge role in the use of social media in terms of customer service tactics. By utilizing apps such as Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, it eliminates the burden of having to call or email a company’s customer service department.

The option of texting

Yes, we said texting. Companies such as Text Request offer instant communication with your customers, to alleviate the stress that comes with contacting customer service. The idea behind this is that we’re so connected to our smartphones, therefore we might as well use them for good.

Live Chats

Live Chats are becoming more popular as well. This allows customers to chat customer service representatives and receive help as quickly as possible. Tools such as LiveChat and Freshdesk give companies an easy customer service alternative. Both tools integrate with your website, allowing for a simple user experience.

Surveys

More and more companies are beginning to send out surveys to get a better idea of how they can help resolve customer issues timely and efficiently. Surveys allow a company to gain customer trust and improve every day. Loft sends out a user survey after shopping with them to make sure your experience was perfect!

Customer service is one part of every company that will never go away. Customers will always need help, and they want that help immediately. So why not utilize one of the many customer service tools to make everyone’s lives a little less stressful?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
