I am in love with all things hair, especially natural hair. I am always looking for new/better products to use for my hair and different methods to make my hair grow. I know that having natural hair can be difficult so I thought if I could help someone else out with this list then we can all of have popping curls together. Keep reading for my top 11 favorite products for my natural hair! *disclaimer: I am not a professional hairstylist and I do not claim to be. These are just products and tips I that have worked for me and could possibly work for others*

1. Water

So technically water isn't a 'product' per se, but as many Youtubers say, it's the best moisturizer for natural hair. Before I style or moisturize my hair I always dampen it with water first. I have recently started mixing aloe vera gel with my water because a lot of people have accredited that mixture to their hair's growth cycle so I want to see how it works for me.

2. Coconut Oil

I do have to say I am that person who loves coconut oil and will recommend it to everyone. I do however understand that not everyone's hair loves coconut oil and some people may need to use different oils to moisturize their hair. My favorite brand is Walmart's Great Value Organic Virgin Unrefined Coconut Oil. Olive oil is another popular oil, but for me it makes my hair hard, stiff and dry. That just goes to show that everyone's hair is different!

3. Shea Butter

Shea butter is my absolute most favorite sealant ever. The first couple of months I was natural, I wasn't sealing my hair with shea butter, and since I've started, I've noticed a big difference in my hair. I don't use just plain shea butter though, I buy the raw organic shea butter from the beauty supply store, and then with a hand mixer I blend it together with coconut oil, JBCO (Jamaican black castor oil), a little bit of olive oil, and peppermint oil. Once blended together it's then in a whipped state and it's soft.

4. Shea Moisture's JBCO Strengthen, Grow & Restore Shampoo

I would first like to say that I did write an article expressing my feelings about the commercial Shea Moisture put out earlier in the year. And although I do feel like Shea Moisture did a a terrible job a representation in their commercial, I cannot deny what some of their products have done for my hair, so I will continue to use them.

I've used this shampoo since I was natural and it does a great job at cleaning and moisturizing and cleaning my hair at the same time without drying it out. I love that even though the shampoo is really lose and the consistency isn't thick, a little definitely goes a long way

5. Shea Moisture's JBCO conditioner

I didn't always use this conditioner, I used to use the Aussie Mega Moist conditioner, but I was watching a YouTube video one day and the YouTuber said that she noticed how much better her looked when she used the shampoo and conditioner form the same line. I can now attest to that statement from personal experience. After using the shampoo and rinsing out the conditioner my curls already have starting to get defined.

6. Shea Moisture's JBCO Strengthen and Restore Treatment Masque

Last product from the line, I promise! This is my absolute favorite deep conditioner ever. It strengthens and moisturizes my hair. I don't know how to explain it, but the very first time I used it, I could tell that my hair was going to love it.

7. Eco Style Black Castor Oil & Flaxseed Gel

I loooooooove this gel soooo much. I've been wanting to try it for so long and I finally did and it lives up to the hype. The curl definition is unreal and it makes my wash n go last for the full week. It is officially my new favorite gel. I used to use the Eco Styler Olive Oil but this definitely out ranks it.

8. Gorilla Snot Gel

I've heard about this gel a lot on YouTube and at first I was resistant to using to using it because it has snot in its name....and who wants to put snot in their hair? But I regret not picking up this product sooner because it is the only product that lays my edges down or when I want to do a sleek low/high puff.

9. Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Since being natural I have oiled my scalp with JBCO. A lot of people either use it as a sealant after moisturizing their hair or to oil their scalp. JBCO is known to help with the growth cycle of one's hair and even though I don't feel like my hair has grown a lot because of my use of it, I can say that I used to have the dryest scalp ever and nothing I would do cured it. But using JBCO has gotten rid of my dry scalp completely.

I've of course tried more hair products than the 9 listed, but these are my top favorites. Let me know some of your faves in the comment section!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
