Step One: Why are you unmotivated?

Clear you head. Sometimes you are just overwhelmed and you lose sight of your goals. So, do some relaxing activities like yoga, meditation, or even go for a walk or run in the park. Once your mind is calmed down you can more easily focus on your goals.

Step Two: What are you aiming for?

Remind yourself of what you are striving for; whether it be a long term career goal, or health goal or a short term goal like writing a paper or running errands. Now that your head is free of distraction, you need to reinforce your aspirations.

Step Three: Why do you want it?

Do not forget why you are pursuing these goals in the first place. Remembering why you were so passionate or driven to succeed in these tasks in the beginning will really revive your enthusiasm.

Step Four: How are you going to accomplish it?

Get organized. Create checkpoints for yourself so that you stay on task and can visualize your progress. Not to mention even reaching small goals gives you a sense of achievement that helps boost your motivation to reach higher.

Step Five: What are you waiting for?

Get up and get going! The hardest part is getting started. Once you start it is much easier to keep your momentum up. So do not waste any more time sulking, one burst of energy will make all the difference.

For the past few months, I have not been my usual happy-go-lucky-self for a number of reasons, but one thing that has been helping me is to think about all of the little things in my life that I am thankful for. I know this might seem really cliché, but it is so true. I cannot stress enough how much better I feel when I think about all the great people and privileges I have in my life. It makes all of the insignificant things that I am stressing about or worrying about in my head seem not nearly as bad. I have decided to make a list of 26 things (out of many more) in my life that I am especially thankful for.
