Well, it’s that time of year again: cold mornings and busy schedules. For coffee skeptics, low-energy and high-stress looms around the corner. For coffee enthusiasts, the solution lies just around the counter.
For centuries, coffee has been a staple at the breakfast table and more recently the centerpiece of friendly gatherings (ask for Rachel at Central Perk).
Aside from coffee’s stimulant nature, the beverage also offers a variety of health benefits. Studies show a reduction in stress, fatty acids, and risk of Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s, and diabetes can all be attributed to drinking a few cups of the black stuff on a regular basis. However, just as the effect on sleep patterns differ for individual coffee drinkers, so do the health benefits.
Plus, you can’t beat that taste. Sure, black coffee may not be your cup of tea (literally), but there are easily 50 different ways to enjoy your brew. The ABC’s of coffee are quite simple: (1) Add cream, sugar, alcohol, or nothing at all, whatever your little irregularly beating heart desires (2) Bring that drink to your favorite spot, either a comfy couch, the great outdoors, or a desk with one of those really old lamps and a few calligraphy pens that your grandma got you for Christmas but you haven’t used yet (open Instagram camera now) and finally, (3) CHUG, because the coffee mug you’re holding has to be empty for you to fill it up again.
The bottom line is coffee allows you to do more. Whether that looks like finishing a project before the deadline, early morning productivity, or being present and loving those around you well regardless of the clock’s opinion, coffee will be there for you.
