Living in a world of questionable morals and ethics.

Waking up to this world we live in is surprising… I wish that there was not a day where I look at what is trending on Facebook and see some shooting that happened or something that is some how news worthy becomes top major news. We live in a world where we automatically assume things about each other. We are quick to point fingers to blame, but forget who the real victims are. We focus on the bad, but never or hardly on the good. I get that we live in a harsh world, but We are the ones who painted that picture.

We are quick to defend ourselves against the outside of the borders we have drawn. But, when something happens inside these lines we divide and create civil unbalance. A person gets a “slap on the wrist” sentence for committing sexual assault, but flip the script and change the story what would happen? life sentence? ten to twenty years? would there be a total uproar? How about a person on national television get exposed to committing sexual harassment multiple times, but ends up getting the victim edit instead of getting a first class ticket out the door and off the show. But, here is the catch a different person gets kicked off the same show, just by throwing a microphone into a pool? sound unfair right? well it is. The only difference is the first person’s defense was that was how they were raised. Yeah no baby is born a sexist racist except it does not take much common sense that a person does not want to be touched or be played around.

People are quick to put the blame on the government. Sure sometimes they emplace policies that we may not agree with. But how about when they change the law that LGBT are now free to marry or LGBT history is now being taught in schools in California? Oh what is that? There is an uproar, no surprise there. People saying why is this being taught in school instead of religion? Well, not everyone is the same religion so every student would have to learn all the religions in the world, which from my understanding is impossible but some schools do teach what religions there are in the world just not all. But people are getting caught up in their own minds they forget the major message: to learn how to accept one another and coexist.

People are quick to jump the gun and assume, succumbing to xenophobic remarks left and right. Does nobody realize that there is usually more to the story? People come to this country to press restart and start a new life from the corruption they have experienced. I am no expert in social sciences… but I am a person who is tired of living in this world we live in. When will we live in a world where we start to appreciate each other instead of killing and assuming. Dividing ourselves from the outside lines but can not keep the inside lines united.

I may sound like another entitled millennial, but when will you sit down and listen to world around you? Because not everything as it seems, and the morals and ethics we may grew up on need to change because we are not loving thy neighbor. We are giving labels and criticizing each other for what we think we are. When we should be coexisting.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
