I was that kid who read all of the Twilight books in middle school when they were popular. I then was the kid who watched all of the movies at least once when they came out on DVD. After watching them once or twice, I completely forgot about them and moved onto bigger and better things like Catch 22, Dante's Inferno and my nursing textbooks. Over my winter holiday, I ended up rummaging through my DVD collection and marathoning the entire saga. I do have to admit, I enjoy watching the characters and their development throughout the movies. The thing I actually can't get by is the cinematography, but that's a whole other topic.
I've been watching Nurse Jackie for a few months, since the beginning of Fall semester to be precise. I recognised Peter Facinelli right away as I started watching the show, the thing that really "geeks my entire life", as my sisters put it, was the polar opposites of roles that are Doctor Carlisle Cullen and Doctor Fitch Cooper. I mean, the roles couldn't be more different other than altering the professions.
Doctor Fitch Cooper is this middle-aged man who looks like he's fresh out of med school. Brown hair does aid in this, Facinelli looks older with blonde hair. Don't get me wrong, I love Cooper in Nurse Jackie, but he is absolutely ridiculous. He's rather immature in the way he deals with conflict; not his turrets responses, but his actual response to conflict. Rowing himself out into a body of water and crying because his mothers were divorcing proves my point. Cooper does have a kind heart, but his morals can be loose. He tends to possess a child-like attitude when he isn't dealing with patients. Again, I love the character, but my god, his social age is far younger than his chronological age.
Doctor Carlisle Cullen is a 300-year-old man stuck at the physical age of twenty-three. He is extraordinarily mature and there isn't an obvious flaw about him. Cullen keeps everyone in check and is the character that knows exactly how to deal with something as it is happening. He is wise, both with people and with information. Even after his 300 years and counting, he holds himself to his moral code. He is respected, nearly everyone genuinely likes him from the beginning, he thinks things through and he is graceful.
I don't know much about Peter Facinelli, what I do know is that he's a great actor and the fact that he can successfully pull off roles as opposite as these look is amazing. Of course, I love both of the characters, I just find it comical how different they seem.
