A Culinary Guide to Surviving Finals Week

Before anyone who is a college student can enjoy their winter break, there's one roadblock in their way: FINALS WEEK, PEOPLE. Finals week is the time of the year when most people aged 18-23ish are the most stressed, overwhelmed, and hangry (hungry + angry). In order to bust out those final papers, study for exams, or prepare for that big presentation that's worth half your overall grade, you need sustenance. Here's a guide for all the food and drinks you need to survive finals week and emerge victorious on the other side.

1. The essential beverage: Coffee.

Whether you drink it black, slightly sweetened, or dump half a container of french vanilla creamer in your cup, coffee is essential. The caffeine allows you to pull those all nighters when you've procrastinated your life away and realize things need to be done.

2. Popcorn

In my opinion, popcorn is one of the most under-rated snacks ever... it's not just for the movies people! It's buttery, cheap, easy to make, and a great snack to bring along for late night study sessions in the library.

3. Chocolate

I believe this essential food group needs no explanation as to why you need it during finals.

4. Juice of any kind

When your mouth needs a break from all the coffee, drink some juice! There are a ton of varieties and all the vitamins in juice will help your body fight off nasty germs.

5. French fries!!!!

Whether they be from your dining hall, McDonald's, In-n-Out, or Jack-in-the-Box, fries aren't just fried potatoes: they're a source of magical brain power.

6. Pizza

]

Get a group of study buddies together and order an extra-large pizza. Your brain and stomach will be thanking you into the wee hours of the night.

7. Grilled cheese

Melted cheese and bread will give you the energy you need to make it through any final.

8. Pancakes (of any kind)

They're fluffy, sweet, buttery, and will never let you down. What more could you ask for during finals week?

Yes, I am fully aware that there aren't many "healthy" options on this list... But it's finals week.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
