The Colorado Buffaloes have been living in a football fantasy for the last two weeks. First with the Rocky Mountain Showdown, the Buffs destroyed Colorado State with an embarrassingly easy 44-7 final score. The following weekend, our boys dealt another blow to Idaho State when they crushed them 56-7. The students of CU Boulder are in a blissful daze as we come to terms with this new sensation of dominance in football. But wake up Boulder, because sadly all good things must come to an end. Settle in Buffs, this weekend we play Michigan.
According to ESPN's Football Power Index the Colorado Buffaloes have about a 10% chance of beating the mighty Michigan Wolverines. So how does the team even mentally prepare to face such a forceful opponent? With Anxiety? Fear? Confidence? No, the Buffs decided to offset Michigan with a little bit a humor.
The Buffs began the week by releasing their uniform combination for the game with a little throwback to 1994. Giving the Wolverines a little reminder of their defeat in the Miracle at Michigan all those years ago...
"The @RunRalphieRun uniform combination is ... the exact same as it was on 9/24/94. #GoBuffs"
But the Buffs didn't stop there. The team then released their own mock depth chart with the likes of Austin Powers, Eric Cartman from South Park, and Lloyd Christmas from Dumb & Dumber as punt returner.
Michigan finally responded by saying:
"@RunRalphieRun Look forward to seeing your punt returners this weekend! #GoBlue" -@UMichFootball
But the Buffs hit back harder.
"@UMichFootball Lloyd Christmas really wants a pair of Harbaugh khakis. Can you hook him up?" -@RunRalphieRun
The Buffs brought Jim Harbaugh's khakis into this. It was about to go down.
Michigan told the Buffs that the khakis were staying right where they were. The exchange went on between both teams for several more tweets, filled with plenty of gifs and jabs along the way.
You can see the whole exchange here:
Regardless of this score this weekend, it is clear that the Buffs are coming to play. Say what you want about our football abilities, Colorado knows how to have fun!
