Hate Crimes Against African Americans Must Stop

You have to realize that hate is everywhere.

Hate Crimes Against African Americans Must Stop

Recently, an African American woman, Mia Frias-Russell from Campsbellburg, Indiana was just minding her own business and woke up to the "n-word" spray painted on her car and on her shed. The suspect even managed to put sugar in her gas tank and the story went viral after she showed the vandalism on a live Facebook video.

I mean come on, Frias-Russell is a single mother trying to take care of her kids and she does not have many friends in her city. Now, someone's hate crime caused her to fear for her life as well as the safety of her kids. You could even see the fear in her eyes clear as day. Frias-Russell was so distraught after the event that she went to live with her parents.

Another tragic news story that caught my eye was the shooting of Charles Kinsley. The man was just trying to do his job as a behavioral therapist and bring his autistic patient back to the group home. There are plenty of reasons of why everything went wrong after the police intervened.

First of all, someone called the police claiming there was a gun involved. However, there was no gun involved. How does a person confuse a toy firetruck with a gun? I'm pretty sure anyone can tell the difference between a gun and a toy truck.

Why didn't anyone go see what was actually going on before calling the police? That probably would have helped the situation.

Second of all, the police officer shot the therapist who had his hands up and said "Don't shoot." He had his hands up and still got shot. After shooting Kinsey, the officer admitted that he didn't even know why he shot him.

That officer shouldn't even be on the police force. Then the police force covered up for him saying that he was aiming for the autistic man. That doesn't make anything better. You don't know whats going on. You can't just walk up on the scene and start shooting. Who does that? Inexperience cops.

Now the autistic man is traumatized and for what? Because a cop didn't know how to handle his job properly? Cops shooting innocent people for no reason and not even knowing the situation is also a form of hate that needs to stop.

Racism has got to come to an end.We are all human beings and we all have a purpose. Why make life harder for a person who is already struggling to get by? We all eat, sleep, and work. We all try to make a living for ourselves.

Even God's Ten Commandments list this: Love thy neighbor. Hate crimes achieve the complete opposite. We need to love each other and put a stop to this hatred. Also a little prayer wouldn't hurt either. Why can't we help one another and use love to build each other up?

Once again we need to keep our world in prayer, build each other up, and love one another.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
