The makeup industry is growing tremendously and people are getting more and more picky about what they put on their faces. With social media (namely YouTube) on the incline, it is so much easier for makeup wearers to educate themselves on products. In response to this, brands are taking the necessary steps in order to appeal to those with certain preferences. Whether you prefer fragrance-free or a completely vegan line, there definitely is a brand out there for you. The following list is made up of a few cruelty-free makeup brands so be sure to consult it before your next makeup splurge!

1) Milk Makeup

Available at Sephora, Milk offers very unique products like their “cooling water” and “holographic highlighting powder.” Designed for an “on-the-go” lifestyle, many of Milk’s products come in stick form, making them functional and portable!

2) NYX Cosmetics

NYX is a great brand for a lot of reasons; one being how affordable it is. Being a drug store brand, NYX is widely available and very reasonably priced for the quality. It is one of my personal favorite drug store brands and it’s even PETA Certified.

3) Kat Von D Beauty

Kat Von D’s makeup line is known for its high coverage and high pigmentation. Von D is an animal lover herself so it makes perfect sense as to why she would want to boast a cruelty free makeup brand. In fact, a portion of her sales generated from her Five Fearless Years Limited Edition Tattoo Liner was donated to The California Wildlife Center.

4) Physician's Formula

Another drug store brand, Physician’s Formula is not only cruelty-free but also hypoallergenic, making is suitable for sensitive skin. Recently celebrating their 80th anniversary, the brand offers gluten-free, paraben-free, and dermatologist approved options.

5) Hourglass Cosmetics

At a higher price point, Hourglass is a luxury makeup brand that can be found at Sephora. Delivering high quality makeup, the brand is not just cruelty-free, it’s also PETA Certified. The brand prides themselves on their innovation and has developed several cult favorites like their Veil Fluid, an oil-free foundation with skincare benefits.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
