“Don’t cross oceans for people who wouldn’t cross a puddle for you.”
We’ve all heard this quote more than once, and it really sticks with a lot of people through their life as a motto. It seems that as soon as someone wrongs us or doesn’t treat us to our highest expectations, we drop them from our lives and back out of any emotional investment. But is this how we should be acting?
My answer is no. Do it. Cross oceans for those who may not do the same for you right now. Take that extra step to reach out to them, and to offer them a shoulder to cry on or a place to feel cared about. Love people. Love all people. Despite what they’ve done to you or to someone you know, face the fact that we are all sinners. Behind every face you see in the hall, on campus, or even in the store is an entire elaborate testimony of life in it’s fullest. With that comes struggles and heartache, and there’s no way of telling what someone has been through, or is going through. So don’t wonder if this person is worthy or not of unconditional love, because we should love one another as Christ loved us.
So go out and cross oceans, climb mountains and put your entire heart into serving and loving others. Life is not about what you gain, but what you give.
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34
