CrossFit As Told By A Couch Potato

I'd still rather be eating Nutella.

CrossFit As Told By A Couch Potato

I am not one for physical exertion. My biggest workout is running up the stairs from my living room to my bedroom. I go from watching Netflix on my TV to watching Youtube on my laptop. And every hour I take a break and raid my fridge. It's a simple life that used to bring me many pleasures. That's until I went to college and got the notorious "Freshman 15". That combined with my best friend telling me about how much she loved CrossFit, made me get a membership. Let me tell you, my muscles are very mad at me right now. The one thing I've learned during the one week I've been doing CrossFit is that it is something that breaks then rebuilds your mental and physical strength. In one class I go from begging God to relieve me from my misery to feeling as if I am the biggest badass to roam this earth. These are the very many feelings I go through from warm-up to cool down.

1. Looks at the WOD.

2. Starts warm-up.

3. Tries to finish the warm-up.

4. Realizes you haven't even started the actual workout.

5. Starts first set.

6. Finishes triumphantly.

7. Realizes you have three more.

8. Trying to push through the rest of the workout.

9. When the trainer tells you, "Keep pushing, you got this."

10. When you're running the last 800 meters.

11. Finally finished.

12. But you still have a cool down.

13. Waiting until the trainer isn't looking so you can sneak out to avoid the cool down.

14. How you think you look after.

15. How you really look.

16. When you finally get home.

17. When you finally eat and undo all the hard work you put in.

18. When you brag to all your friends about how CrossFit has fundamentally transformed you as a person.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

The Unwritten Rules Of "Talking"

What is "talking?" How does one "talk?"

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
