When you hear the word "Crocs" you are most likely transported back to your childhood days. The days of playing in the dirt, chasing your friends, and your parents yelling at you to "keep your shoes on!". Those were the days when your parents would do whatever it took to make their lives easier when it came to dressing you for the day. Crocs were the perfect shoe for kids who liked to run and play and get dirty.
It is now 2016, we are no longer children, but Crocs are still begging to be recognized as the most versatile and sensible shoes. I have already come to the realization that they are underrated in the areas of functionality, comfort, and style, but why hasn't everyone else?
Crocs can be worn during any season, with any outfit. The fur-lined Crocs are perfect for keeping your feet warm during the winter months. The bottom of the shoes provide traction in case of icy spots during your winter outings, and a back strap allows for your foot to rest comfortably in the shoe, no matter your pace of movement. You can wear them with or without socks, whatever best suits the situation. The rubber material of the shoe makes them easy to clean off after a day of adventures. When it comes to the beach, Crocs are the ideal shoe. Hot sand flows right through the holes instead of burning the bottoms of your feet and the convenient back straps keeps your shoes on tight despite the weight of the sand. You can wear them however you want, wherever you want.
Today, people would rather reach for the high priced brand name footwear that may not promise comfort but do maintain colors and structures to keep up with the latest trends seen on the runway. In my opinion, Crocs are not just a trend, but an ongoing sensible choice for footwear for everyone.
Although the clog shaped shoes are my preferred Croc style, the company has began producing many other variations of the rubber shoe. They now make heels, ballet flats, rain boots, and ordinary flip flops to name a few. They are growing their company to meet the needs of their customers and it has gone unnoticed by so many.
So why are crocs looked down upon? Us Croc lovers are often the butt of jokes when it comes to footwear. People are surprised when I proudly say I wear Crocs and their ensuing laughter is no longer unexpected. These shoes are my go-to footwear in just about any situation. Their shape and material are unconventional but this only makes them even more brilliant. If you are one of those people that continues to dismiss all the advantages of Crocs, just know that the joke is on you, because you are missing out.
