A Crippled White House

The Leadership of the White House must change or Trump will find himself alone with an administration incapable of even the smallest of tasks

A Crippled White House

In the recent months of the new administration, president Donald Trump has gone through more White House shakeups than most Presidents. Several members of Trump's administration have either resigned or been fired due to behavioral inadequacies. Within that list we have Michael Flynn, Angella Reid, James Comey, Walter Shaub, Sean Spicer, Reince Priebus, Anthony Scaramucci and now finally Steve Bannon. These people were important to Trump's administration and their combined departures signals something that has been made increasingly more apparent as the days go by. Trump is isolating himself not just geopolitically but also domestically from the very same people he is supposed to work with to ensure that the US is functioning at an optimum level while advancing whatever agenda he may have. As a President this is not the smartest move as it takes away critical resources needed to pursue any goals or strategies he may need.

The biggest departure from that list is Trump's chief strategist and alt-right advocate, Steve Bannon, now the acting head of Breitbart news. Steve Bannon's resignation signals a significant change in the White House. It should be noted that despite Bannon's absence from the White House, Trump's agendas, opinions and attitude is not likely to change. However what is changing is Trump's strength politically. It is a well-known fact that Trump is a very difficult person to work with. He acts as if he is all-powerful in addition to carrying himself as something of a God when it comes to rhetoric about leading this nation. This bold and ignorant leadership style has proven deleterious for his cabinet and his administration, creating significant White House shakeups that have led to major inefficiencies in promoting his agenda and leading to public sector job growth. Jobs have grown in the US, however this is less due to Federal Government policies and more of the policies left in place from before. Rather the current White House is crippled and remains stagnant. most of the major policy initiatives that Trump has advocated for have performed at very low rates at best, most of which have not yielded any success.

In order to get the ball rolling on any sort of decent agenda beyond what Congress has already tried to do, Trump must change his leadership style. The current methodology Trump is using distances himself from his own advisers and those who will help enact positive change in the country. The Business Councils Trump set up months ago have all been disbanded for lackluster reasons and as such spells a major change in the way the White House does things. It seems that a White House run by Trump is one of isolation and one that thinks that it can solve major policy change without consultation from any experts. This is very dangerous and does not bode well for the future of the country.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
