I recently started watching the wonderful series “White Collar” and fell in love once again, with Matt Bomer. You could say that it was love at first con. I had seen episodes of “White Collar” in the past but never in consecutive order. Here is a list of reasons why I love Matt Bomer’s character Neil Caffrey, an art thief who struck a deal with the FBI to work as a criminal informant under his "handler," Special Agent Peter Burke.
1. The man can wear a suit.
The first thing that you may notice, if you weren’t immediately transfixed by his beautiful blue eyes, is how the man can wear a suit. No matter what the job, he always looks his best.
2. His vast knowledge of all things art history.
Neil is a walking history book. He is an expert on all things art. Whether it is new or old, Neil can tell you who the artist is, the time period, the meaning of the piece — and can even reproduce a fake that can trick even the best of art enthusiasts. Neil is an art thief, and he always somehow ties in his knowledge into every case.
3. Peter and Mozzy — his right hand men.
Peter Burke and Mozzie are Neil’s best friends. No matter what the situation or the level of danger, Neil always has their backs, and they offer the same in return. They know pretty much everything about each other and sometimes even freak each other out in the process.
4. Neil’s never-ending passion.
No matter what case he is working, Neil always gives his all, and sometimes it’s a little too much. Cases haunt him, as do memories of people whom he has met along the way. He will stop at nothing to complete a case and put criminals back in jail.
5. He’s a hopeless romantic.
Neil loves love. He is a master of words and a master of wine. He can make any woman fall in love with him, which comes in handy when he is working a case. But he struggles to find real love for himself. Something always comes to light or gets in the way that ruins his chances of finding an everlasting love.
Even though Neil is a criminal, he has a genuine soul and heart. I absolutely fell in love with his character, every aspect of it. Well...maybe not the whole him being a criminal part.
