For some people, clowns are not funny; they are deathly afraid of clowns. Others love and adore them. No matter how you feel, clowns have been in the news recently and not for real good reasons, with some people so afraid they are currently locked in their houses watching the news and hoping the clowns stay out of their town. Yes, in 2016, the year of craziness, so it seems, clowns have taken the east coast by storm. Recent local reports include a hoax in Toms River and in Phillipsburg. Also how people are handling it depends on how you feel about clowns.
Sightings of clowns go back to as early as last year in Florida. The real question remains: is it a publicity stunt? Or have people in this country gone that crazy that they want to dress up like clowns and scare people? Even though the clown scare started in Florida last year, it has now worked their way up to most recently south Carolina and now our own New Jersey nearby long Island.
Here in New Jersey, in Toms river, a school was put on lockdown after a clown was reported and "Everyone started freaking out," according to an Asbury Park press story. Another sighting was in Philipsburg, Warren county it was reported by eyewitness news that a clown chased a young boy out of the woods. The recent news is putting everyone on edge and waiting to see if they are next in line for being chased by a clown.
