I know that there are many people in the world who have a fear of clowns, but I was never one of them. When I was little, clowns represented a sort of happiness. You know, they were associated with the circus. As I got older, I felt like they were something that I just grew out of.
I haven't given clowns too much thought......until well....now.
My sister had actually texted me asking if I heard about all the creepy clown incidents that were happening. She told me that they started in the south, but are now migrating up here. She also texted me links to articles about these "creepy clown sightings". Let me tell you, after reading these articles I was left feeling both freaked out and confused.
Apparently these sightings have been happening for weeks across the country in places located in Alabama, Georgia, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio, Virginia, and both Carolinas. Honestly who knows how many other places have reported sightings, all I know is that they are now on the east coast.
Now there are some reports of the clowns only scaring people and not harming anyone. For example, two different people say that they saw someone dressed up as a clown in the apartment complex just....standing there. Which of course is on the creepier side of the spectrum. Unfortunately, there are also reports alleged of violence ensuing.
In Ohio, a woman reported being attacked by one of these clowns and that prompted officials to close the entire school district in the area. Thankfully, the woman wasn't seriously injured.
To be honest, this sounds like a season of American Horror Story. All of it just sounds so fictional, yet it's really happening. There have been enough incidents reported in multiple states to raise alarm. Pictures and videos are circulated around the internet. In addition to this, copycats across the country are trying to emulate this so called "prank".
According to an article on 6abc's website, a clown account issued a threat that targeted Philadelphia schools. It doesn't mention what exactly will happen, but it was specific enough for school officials to it seriously. It's one thing to read about this kind of thing happening in a state across the country and it's another thing to read about this happening in the very state that you live in.
This whole clowning thing has just blown up over the last few months and that in itself is scary. I think that it partly blew up because of social media, as the post about Philadelphia schools got lots of likes.
Hopefully this will all blow over after Halloween comes and goes.
