Sometimes writing small prompts helps the creativity flow and so here are some ideas that might help!
1. Write a scene from your favorite book but place it in a different time period
50 Shades of Grey in the Victorian era? ;)
2. Close your eyes and point to a random object and write how it can be used as a weapon
I know it's a little extra....
3. Screen write the con for Ocean's 9
For an added bonus write who your dream cast would be!
4. Write a story where a character from a book found a fanfiction about themselves
There is actually a ton of fan fictions already like this and I swear it's funny.
5. Try Magical Realism
I first learned this word while watching Narcos and then it simply means to create a universe that is similar to our own but add only one magical characteristic.
6. Write about a prophet that makes a prediction
This can be as big or as small as you want. Imagine having an astrologer predict the "end of the world" or the death of a future spouse.
7. Write from the year 3000
Are the Jonas brothers popular here? Is everyone dead because of Trump?
8. Write a harsh critique of your favorite movie
This would inevitably force you to be objective and you can watch your favorite movie again!
9. An episode for the Bachelor
Place yourself as a producer for the Bachelor and you have to create some drama. But the twist is you CANNOT use any of cliches. For example, we find out that Chris Harrison is actually a vampire
10. Write your own version of the ending for How I Met Your Mother
Please so that I don't have to get angry again.
11. Your version of the afterlife
Best sellers like the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita have been devoted to describing the afterlife. So what's your version?
Which was your favorite prompt?
