Regardless of how 2017 treated you, this is a great time to prepare and properly say goodbye. Like Socrates once said, "The unexamined life is not worth living." Ready to dismiss it or not, 2017 should not be a year that we shoo away. We've had many changes, grown in different aspects of society, and made several accomplishments as well.

If we get in the right mindset and reflect on our mistakes, accomplishments and memories, we can be sure that 2018 will be approached with a much more mindful regard. So let's wrap up our memories, store them away, and say goodbye to 2017! Here are five creative ways to say our final goodbyes:

1. Make a Sticky-Note Memory Jar

This is a great way to recap all of the memories you had in 2017 and store them away! Although you're not visually seeing photos, you're reviving the images in your head. This way, you can see what were the most meaningful memories to you, and reflect upon why.

2. Write a Farewell Letter to All the Negativities

Break up with all of the bad things 2017 brought! Say goodbye. Throw it away. Make it therapeutic.

3. Clean Out Your Closet

Why not? Let's not go into the new year with a messy closet. And it doesn't hurt to put in new pieces too!

4. Light 18 Candles, Make 18 Wishes

This may be a little corny, but it's cute! Light 18 candles and make 18 wishes for 2018.

5. Make a 2017 Scrapbook

I know we're moving towards a more tech-savvy time, but it's still fun to get hands-on! Grab a scrapbook and get busy. Say goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
