January 1 at 12:01a.m. everyone will be bragging about how this year is going to be better than the last. How this is "THE YEAR!" This is the year that you believe is going to be better than all of the rest.
Some of you will start exercising more often and eating healthier...at least for the first month. There are some stubborn people who are able to continue their new years resolutions for almost three or four month, but those are only if you're really dedicated.
For the majority of Americans, the wishful news years resolution is gone within the month because real life catches up to us. It is hard to exercise everyday when there five hours of homework to do and you're still trying to have a social life.
Although, with my advice, you may actually be able to stick to your resolution this year!
Start off by making a list of things you did wrong in 2016 that you don't want to repeat. In that same list, add the good changes that you could make to improve yourself as well. While making that list, star a couple of the most significant changes because those are going to be the ones you base the resolution off.
Once that list is done, pick your three top issues. Do a little research on each one. Only about five minutes per topic, on ways to improve this issue, just to make sure you know what you're getting into. If the thing you want to change is that you are unorganized, look up articles on how to become more organized. Continue to do this for the other two options as well.
Now that you have options on how to carry out your resolution, you can start to decide which option is the most achievable for you. This could mean, if you don't have a gym membership, then maybe working out everyday may not be the easiest goal for you. The goal of staying organize would be much easier to achieve in this case, because you might only need a couple of folder and a stapler for that.
The best way to ensure that you stick to your resolution is by making a resolution with friends! It's a great way to have fun with it and having someone there to remind you to keep going come in clutch. Therefore, not only do you have yourself to disappoint if you can't carry through your plan, you will also disappoint your friend because they will lose their motivator.
Hopefully, these strategies will help you carry out your resolution! Good luck!
