Often a time, I look at the weather forecast and see what the temperature for that day entails. However, upon finishing getting ready and venturing out the door, I am awestruck with a completely different feel than what I expected. I mean even today, a regular Thursday, I looked at the forecast and it said high 40's... so like any normal New Englander, I put on some pants and a light jacket. The flaw in this decision wasn't necessarily the temperature though, it had everything to do with the wind, which was extremely powerful and almost unbearably cold. Long story short, I looked at the weather and was misguided as to how I could properly prepare myself for the day. So, where am I going with this?

Alright, my group from class and I are creating an app based on the relationship between the weather forecast and what people should wear. We want to ensure everyday users that our suggestions of what to put on for the day are on point and in relation to the latest trends. We have two versions: one tailored for the public which is free and the second targeted towards those that are willing to pay under a dollar for premium features.

The overall function of this app is to give a detailed weather forecast along with an outfit that guides the user with what to wear, depending on climate, wind chill, precipitation, etc. Of course the app is not yet ready, but we hope to work with clothing companies to have a display of their clothes. Anyhow, this is public version of the app. If there are any comments or ideas that you have or would possibly like in order to make the app better, we are more than willing to take them.

Within the app, there will be advertisements offering for the premium version, or upgrade. What we plan to do with this is link our already existing clothing companies into your personalized account. That being said, you will be able to customize your style be selecting outifts and types of clothes that you enjoy. Upon doing so, our app will generate a customized "closet" for you. So let's say you see an outifit you absolutely love from American Eagle: you will then have the opportunity to select the items you want, such as a cute romper for a hot summer day, and it will automatically give you access to deals for that particular store. Keep in mind that these deals are from our app, not store discounts. Furthermore, the upgrade will hopefully parnter with snapchat so that you and other friends can upload your outfits onto both apps just to see what others are wearing. Of course, the app is not yet finished, but we ask that if you have any suggestions or ideas of interest, let us know! We are eager to find out whether there would be a vast amount of users or not.

Thank you so much! My group and I are excited to hear from you!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
