Taste Testers

They've been sweeping through your Snapchat stories, being posted by every healthy living influencer on Instagram, and now, you too will know how to create the perfect, social media ready smoothie bowl.

1. Ingredients

This is key. You need to find ingredients that will taste delicious together and will also make a beautiful color for your bowl. Fruits like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and mangos all contribute to beautiful colors. Be warned though; add a blueberry to a smoothie, and no matter what else you put in, your bowl will be purple. If you're going for the uber healthy "green smoothie," add some spinach in with light colored fruits, like banana, mango, and pineapple, and you're golden. For an extra boost for your health, add some protein powder, collagen, or chia seed gel.

2. Bowl

Believe it or not, it does matter what bowl you put your smoothie in. You want to make sure the smoothie fills the bowl adequately, without spilling over when the toppings are added. It's also ideal if you have a bowl that is pretty in itself. This will only add to the aesthetic.

3. Toppings

This is arguably the most important part of the perfect smoothie bowl. The options for toppings reach far and wide, but some of the most popular choices are granola, fresh fruit, coconut shreds, peanut butter, chia seeds, and cacao nibs. Lay your toppings out in a design of your choosing, and then, you're ready to snap a pic!

4. The Photo

For your perfect smoothie bowl photo, you want to make sure that you set up a few things correctly. One, the lighting. Natural light is the best way to display your creation. Take the picture outside or by a window to achieve this! Two, angle. Make sure to take your photo from an angle that displays your bowl in all its glory! Many times, a high angle shot will achieve this! Lastly, editing. It's no secret that a majority of photos on the 'gram are edited. Why? Because it amplifies the best aspects of the photo. So, increase the saturation and exposure, and add a filter to make the colors of your bowl really pop!

That is that! Now that you've made and snapped a picture of your perfect smoothie bowl, it's time for the best part...EATING IT! Enjoy!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
