How creating an excellent work inspires others to do the same

Ever since I watched the film La La Land, I have been listening to the soundtrack non-stop. I love it. It is an amazing soundtrack and an amazing film. I know others have different opinions, but I loved it, and yes I am going to tell you why.

This movie is inspiring. This movie is creative and imaginative and emotional and it sparked inspiration in me. I suddenly couldn't wait fo create something; to bring something to life, All from a movie. I couldn't wait to be able to have the opportunity to bring my own characters alive and my own ideas.

Isn't it amazing how a wonderful work of art or literature can do that? How creating something then inspires others to create things. I mean I may be a little biased, but we need creators in the world. The funny thing is, people love and appreciate art, but when you tell them you want to be an artist they call you crazy.

I can't tell you how many times I have had to explain why I love acting and why it is the field I want to go into. I have to defend my choices and my passion. People often see art as a field that doesn't make money or doesn't have a future, but where would we be without art? Honestly, take a second and think where would we be without drama and art and dance and music? The world would be so boring.

The movie La La Land is a great example of why art is so great and important. It awakens something in people. It awakens this side of us, this side that calls us to be creative and use our imagination. When was the last time you used your imagination?

I love acting and creating characters. I love bringing a persona to life and becoming another person. In the arts, we can talk about things that people are too afraid to talk about. You can bring about controversy; they actually encourage it. You can push boundaries and encourage others to do the same. Art sparks conversation and interaction.

Now movies are my favorite form of art. Most people don't consider movies to be art, but they are. Someone put time in creating it and in making a moving picture. I have so many movies, you can ask my mom or my roommate. I have so many. Now I love movies for many reasons, one of them is that it was my dad's and my thing. Yes, my dad watched movies with all his kids, but my dad and I got into them. I just always associated movies with my dad; it was something for us to do together. I always feel closer to my dad when we watch movies together.

Movies are a great conversation starter because almost everyone has seen a movie. They have this amazing ability to bring you out of awkward situations and into familiar ground. They connect people on this deeper level. Every time I have talked to someone about Star Wars or The Lord of the Rings we became instant friends. In a sense movies are a universal language, everyone can talk about them or contribute to the conversation.

Movies show the messiness of being a person. They show life's good times and bad and a good movie will show the beauty in that. That is what I want to do. I want to show the beauty in the messiness of life. I want to show life's struggles and the amazing way we overcome those struggles. I want to shine God's light through excellent work and through the messiness of life. That is my passion and my joy and I want to create to inspire.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
