HAPPY VALLEY Ore. (KPTV) 2 weeks before the deadline of October 18 for the vaccination of healthcare professionals , long-term care workers and teachers. People are still waiting to get a shot.
The Clackamas Town Centerin Clackamas, department for public health provided the opportunity for vaccination to those who live in the area. In the clinic, FOX 12 talked to an employee of the school who said she was not eager to go through the process of getting vaccinated. However, she decided to get it the next day in order to aid teachers at the local school.
Anil Gorania is a nursing director at a long-term-care facility. He took an employee to the hospital for immunized. He claims that the reason for this is in order to reduce the amount of labor at the nursing home he works in.
"That's troublesome, that's why I'm here driving people to come get vaccinated if they do choose to do so on the deadline day ," Jonathan said.
Doctor also stated that the general public is signing up to get vaccinations, however, the public is also prepared for the possibility of a shortage of labor that could be expected to occur on the 18th of April.
"As of October 18, we will have people off the schedule because they won't get it in time," Gorania declared. "So there is going to be labor shortages in the workplace taking care of our vulnerable older people." Jonathan Osler Said
In regards to the school in the local area, Lake Oswego said 98.6 percent of teachers are fully vaccinated as well as 1.4 percent of them qualify for exemption. North Clackamas School District did not respond to FOX 12's request for interviews like for the other. Beaverton School District, as well as Salem-Keizer School District have not responded to our request at this time. FOX 12 is still waiting for an answer from Portland Public Schools.
