The beauty industry usually uses celebrities to endorse their lines. This is a great way for celebrities to get some extra coverage and let’s not forget to get paid the big bucks. This time, Covergirl made an extremely bold move when it came to choosing who their new Covergirl would be. With that being said, if you haven’t heard about Covergirl’s new face, then you must’ve been hiding under a rock all week long. This week, Covergirl announced that their new “Covergirl” is actually a boy. A non-celebrity boy, which is the best part in my opinion. Covergirl’s new face is James Charles, a 17-year- old makeup artist from New York.

About James Charles:

James Charles started doing makeup for his friends as a hobby. He then began to post the looks on Instagram so he can get clients when prom season came around. In just a short year, his Instagram account grew to nearly 600,000 followers and more than 80,000 subscribers on YouTube. You know what 80,000 people watching your channel is? Those are some serious goals right there. So he didn’t get Instafamous for showing his body or wealth like some Instafamous people do, or even buying his followers. This kid is the real deal, he is actually ridiculously talented, adorable and relatable, oh and let me not forget to mention that his eyebrow game is better than anyone's I know.

My thoughts:

First of all, I want to say that you’re still reading my article after finding out I’m writing about a guy who wears makeup, well thank you. I say thank you, because the minute a person who isn’t open minded, is judgmental and doesn’t believe in gender equality, this person would’ve closed this page by now. Why do I say that? Well because although we are in the 21 century, there are still people who don’t think that it is not okay for men to wear makeup. Which, I think is ridiculous, we live in a free country after all, no one should have a say in what you decide to put on your face.

Covergirl is an American founded cosmetic line, a 55-year-old cosmetic line to be exact. If you would’ve told our conservative grandparents and even our parents that this, worldwide known, cosmetic line would have a boy who wears makeup as their cover star they would’ve laughed. I think it’s incredible that we have come such a long way, and we live in a country where you can express who you are, most of the times, without being judged. I mean there are always going to be those people who have something to say, but my point is that we have come a long way. This is why I think it’s so remarkable for a cosmetic line with such a huge name to make this ground breaking move in choosing James as a Covergirl.

So what does this mean for our traditional gender boundaries?

I definitely do think that our gender boundaries are been broken, slowly but surely. I believe that this bold move from Covergirl is a great move in the beauty and fashion industry. I’m a social media lover, wannabe makeup artist and I do think that there are some amazing makeup artist, boy or girls, who are using social as their platform to reach millions of people. I think it's dope that this company stayed away from using a celebrity and went with someone who can relate to. If you know me, you know that I’m all for gender equality and I love that we are living in this era where we can be who we want to be. Yes, we do have a long way to go but we’ve come a long way like I said earlier, some people still don't support these nontraditional moves that big name companies are making and that's okay. What I love most is that James put himself out there, he has been bullied his whole life, like a lot of kids are everyday because they are different, but he didn’t let that bring him down. He used his talent as his voice and he is 100 percent a role model in my eyes, without a doubt. I also appreciate his courage, and that highlight…..Oououuu boy you better werk it!

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
