I feel this song so accurately depicts what sin tears away from us. Reflecting the story of the prodigal son, we see how our souls can be drawn to what we believe to be good, to be light and luck, but rather we are so hollowed by the emptiness of earthly things. I know for myself, this song sang, and still sings so deeply to me. I find my heart to be tethered to what seems good and holy, but in my heart of hearts, I know that there are things so much better and brighter out there for me. While we know so desperaly what we want, only God truly knows what we need. And this, my friends, is a hard reality to swallow.
