This is not the first summer that I have indulged myself in country music. Actually, I am an avid listener of the genre at all times of the year. I've grown up listening to the CMT music video count down. The country music station has been stuck on my car radio all summer (with the exception of listening to my favorite morning show) and here's why.

1. The lyrics are honest.

Country artists say the words other genres are afraid to say. The honesty is refreshing and relatable. It makes you want to keep listening.

2. The songs are catchy.

If you don't find yourself humming a catchy country tune every once and awhile, I think you're lying. Even if you're not an avid country music fan, there is a pretty good chance you know some of the words to a Luke Bryan or a Florida Georgia Line song. The songs are just so catchy!

3. It gives you all of the summer feels.

Nothing makes it feel more like summer than a good country song. A sure sign of summer is when you can drive around with your windows down and the country music at a loud volume.

4. Sam Hunt

Okay if country's latest star's lyrics don't make you swoon, I don't know what will. The pro-football player turned country star revolutionized the genre once again.

5. The patriotism.

No other genre makes you feel more proud to be an American than country music. Country music gave us one of the most popular patriotic songs, God Bless the USA. Ever since, many country artists have written their own songs expressing their love for our country.

6. There is music for every mood.

Whether you're sad, happy, lonely, or excited--country music has a song for you.

7. Two Words: Girl Power.

The women in country music stand their ground and they are not afraid to sing about it. Artists like Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler and Martina McBride bring the girl empowerment to their music. Their sassiness and strength is shared with their female listeners. You even get mad at the boys who broke their hearts.

8. The love songs.

This goes along with the honesty part. Country artists love hard and their songs show every bit of it. Some of the greatest love songs have come from country music.

9. The humor within some songs.

Country artists seem to have a good sense of humor. No other genre has a sense of humor quite like this one.

10. The celebration of small towns.

Country music loves to talk about their small towns. If you're from a small town, the songs are so fun to listen and relate to.

11. The music is fun!

It can be emotional and heartfelt, but one of the most important pieces of country music is that it is fun. The artists along with their fans love to have a good time.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
