I have been living in Copenhagen, Denmark for a little over a week now. I elected to study abroad here for a semester. I am studying at DIS, a study abroad college with over 1,200 students from across the United States. In addition to going to school alongside nearly all Americans, I live in a Residential Community with other DIS students. While I am surrounded by Americans, I am still in constant contact with very, very beautiful Danish people.
I now fully understand why the luxury designers of Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Prada send scouts to these Scandinavian countries in search models to wear their designs down the runway. It seems that every person I encounter could be, in my opinion, an off duty model. Long-legged blondes cloaked in all black, tall, tan men with chiseled jawlines and deep v-neck t-shirts, it’s a miracle I haven’t crashed my bike while gawking at their beauty.
Not to say I haven’t encountered beautiful people during my everyday life in the United States, but the average Dane is just so much better looking than the average American. Young moms biking around with their kids, check-out guys at the local grocery store, their effortless, natural beauty is unbelievable to me. If I looked like anyone of those hot young moms just casually biking with their kids, I would quit my day job, move to Paris or New York City and sign a million dollar modeling contract in a heartbeat. And yet, these beautiful Danes don’t, they just go about their regular everyday lives, seemingly unphazed by their own sheer beauty and the beauty of those around them. Take for example, my Danish teacher here at DIS. She’s easily six feet tall, her long slender legs appear never-ending, piercing brown eyes, dimples and her white blonde hair cropped into a chic bob makes her easily one of the most attractive women I’ve ever seen in person, and she’s my teacher!
It's no wonder Denmark is the happiest country in the world, I would be incredibly happy too if I were surrounded by beautiful people all day every day!
