13 Country Music Jams To Listen To When You Miss Home

"Alexa, play these songs on repeat."

I have recently been feeling out of place and feeling like I don't belong in the city which I now live. I have been missing my hometown more and more each day which is crazy to think about considering that I always dreamed of living in another city in another state.

Now that I'm three years into living hours away from my home, home, I have a busy life and schedule which means I can't make it back home as often as I should or want to. I have found that the best way for me to handle this is to have something that reminds me of home around me when I'm feeling like this.

One of my playlists are designed just for songs that remind me of home and I have spent hours perfecting the playlist to include only songs that remind me of home. Here are my favorite 13 country songs that remind me of home:

1. "Home And A Hometown" by Hannah Ellis

I always listen to this song when I'm missing being in surrounded by country life. I know that no matter how much I miss my hometown and living in the country, my home will always be in a city. Plus I use this song to explain that to other people who don't get it.

2.  "Make Em Proud" by Luke Pell

When I miss home I listen to this to remind me that everyone in my support system back home are always cheering for me to succeed. I'm always reminded that I'm doing great things and that no matter what they are always there for me.

3. "Anything Like Me" by Adam Sanders

Sometimes I feel like I don't fit in with my life away from home and I don't feel like anyone gets me. I listen to this song to remind that there are people that get me and are like me back home.

4.  "The Way I Talk" by Morgan Wallen

I have this song on repeat most of the time because I know that I say words differently and say phrases that none of my friends have ever heard of. I start to miss home even more when this happens and this song helps me feel more at home.

5.  "Where I'm From" by Jason Michael Carroll

I have added to my playlist because something about this song feels familiar to me and comforts me when I'm missing home.

6. "I'm From The Country" by Tracy Byrd

A basic explanation of home home for me and makes me miss home less.

7. "Simple Town" by Walker Montgomery

This song is chalk full of songs that remind me of home and I can relate to so many things in this song.

8.  "Small Town USA" by Justin Moore

I'm reminded of the slower-paced life that is lived back home and I feel a lot better when I'm overwhelmed with the faster-paced life that I'm now living.

9.  "Something to Be Proud Of" by Montgomery Gentry

I'm reminded of stories passed down and memories made spent with family.

10.  "Where I Come From" by Montgomery Gentry

Another basic explanation of home and I can relate so much which is why I listen to it.

11. "Farm Girl" by High Valley

12. "Backroad Song" by Granger Smith

I'm reminded of summer days and nights spent driving back roads and full of good memories with friends and family.

13. "You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home" by Hannah Montana

One of the best songs to round out the songs to listen to when you miss home. I feel so much better after listening to this when I miss home.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
